EVENTS COMMITTEE – WHAT WE DO
The GreenLight Women Events Committee is responsible for creating and executing interesting, innovative, entertaining and informative events for our members and our community. We organize and support an exciting and dynamic range of activities, each one in its own way featuring topics of interest and relevance to professional women over the age of 40.
With social distancing changing the way we interact with each other, GreenLight Women has adapted and is offering exciting virtual Zoom events. The Zoom format has expanded our reach significantly as we are involving participants from around the world.

The Salons have been are one of GreenLight Women’s most popular events for members only. They’ve been on hold so far in 2020, but will resume when in-person events are permitted. An intimate group of members gather on a weekend afternoon at a private home for a catered luncheon and to listen to the words of wisdom from legendary women in our industry.
Salon special guests have included the former President and CEO of the American Film Institute, Jean Firstenberg; producer, philanthropist and former Paramount Pictures CEO Sherry Lansing and former President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences and head of marketing at New Line Cinema, Cheryl Boone Isaacs. GreenLight Women Board Member and Co-Chair of the Events Committee Hollace Davids and GreenLight Women Treasurer Betsy Pollock serve as moderators. GREENLIGHT WOMEN TALKS
What started as a temporary fill-in for the Salon has become a dynamic, exciting, interactive Zoom experience. Members from around the country and around the world are participating in these monthly, 90-minute discussions featuring a special guest and culminating in a Q&A open to all attendees. The kind of women we showcase in GreenLight Women talks is a consumate professional in the entertainment industry who is successful and respected and whose stories are illuminating and inspiring.
On June 13 we had the pleasure of hosting television creator, writer and director Nell Scovell, who talked about her career path and her book Just The Funny Parts…., which chronicles her experiences in the male-centric world of network television. GreenLight Women Board Members Lillah McCarthy and Marion Rosenberg moderated.
On Saturday, July 25, at 2:00pm, GreenLight Women Talks is very proud to host fellow GreenLight Women member and award-winning cinematographer Nancy Schreiber, who broke the glass ceiling for women in Hollywood in this male-dominated field. GreenLight Women member and director Rachel Feldman (Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, A Rookie) moderates.
Our Screening Program is focused on finding and sharing independent films made by women over 40. Screenings are open to all GreenLight Women members and their guests, and are often held at the New York Film Academy in Burbank, and GreenLight Women thanks NYFA for their ongoing support. There are regular Q&A’s after the screenings with the filmmakers, and often a reception. We are exploring the possibility of virtual screenings followed by a Q&A.
Films we have screened include:
- A Classy Broad, directed by GreenLight Women member Anne Goursaud, highlighting the career of legendary producer and film executive Marcia Nasatir (The Big Chill, Hamburger Hill)
- The Human Race, directed by Liz Vassey, an inspiring film about older women who have taken up running
- I’m With The Band, directed by GreenLight Women Board Member Judy Chaikin, explores the lives of women musicians during the jazz era.
- Stuntwomen, based on the book by GreenLight Member Mollie Gregory and produced by GreenLight Women Chairwoman Marion Rosenberg, is an inside look at the women who choose that exhilarating and often dangerous profession.

In 2019 GreenLight Women produced Aging in Hollywood, a discussion and interview with renowned psychologist and author Dr. Andrea Brandt (Mindful Aging: Embracing Your Life After 50 to find Fulfillment, Purpose and Joy). Moderated by GreenLight Women Vice President Lillah McCarthy, the talk explored the range of issues women face as we age, and learning how to deal with them with self-awareness and humor.
We also partnered with Next Tribe for the Out Loud event Grown-Ass Women Run The Show, celebrating our capabilities as leaders and. healers. Lillah McCarthy served as a panelist and GreenLight Women members enjoyed a day of networking, story-telling and making new friends who share common values.
